Sacred Play
Embodied Practices for Healing and Liberation
with Sasha Cailleach

Sacred Play explores the interplay of individual and collective healing and liberation.

It is rooted in the recognition that we are limited by the systems of oppression under which we live,
and in the understanding that we can begin to free ourselves by:

– Being in radically transformative, liberatory relationships with ourselves and one another

– Experiencing our ecstatic oneness with the natural world

– Experiencing the bliss of being an embodied being, with the capacity for deep physical and energetic connectivity with other beings

– Re-weaving ourselves into magic, engaging in spell-casting and other forms of sacred alchemy

– Living life as an embodied prayer, rooting ourselves in wonder, spiritual intention, ritual, ancestral wisdom, and radical futurisms

– Creating new, liberatory spaces of healing and radical love outside of the systems of oppression under which we live

About Sasha

I am a hedge witch oriented towards individual and collective liberation. I like to help create and hold sacred spaces where we can drop into deep presence and radical authenticity, and where the quiet magic that connects all beings is palpable.

The spiritual path I am most steeped in is ashtanga yoga, including the physical practice, the ethical precepts, and the philosophy and cosmology. Spiritual practices that bring me joy include rising before dawn, following Ayurvedic lifestyle guidelines, engaging in ancient Celtic rituals and practices for living in harmony with the changing seasons, chanting and playing harmonium, building altars, spell casting, writing songs and poems, and being in an ecstatic relationship with nature. I have also found healing and transformation in contact improv, ecstatic dance, liberatory explorations of sensuality and sexuality, and consent practice.

I am a queer solo polyamorous mama of a magical being, and my work is organizing resources for a regenerative, post-capitalist future rooted in radical love and collective care.

The Art of Being: An Embodied Exploration of the Foundations of Ayurveda

In September, 2025, I held a two-part exploration of Ayurveda as an intentional way of being in the world. We explored Samkhya cosmology, the false dichotomy between the self and others, the impact of the stories we tell ourselves on our well being, the practice of continually shifting from painful mind fluctuations towards a place of love, ancestral trauma, the paradox of knowing the unknowable, the Ayurvedic constitutions and how to keep ourselves in balance, being mindful of prakritis and vikritis in our relationships, and how to avoid attachment. We also chanted, sat by the river, harvested and ate wild grapes, and did group toning.

Love and Kitchari: Ayurvedic Seasonal Balancing

In October, 2025, I led an 8-day Ayurvedic seasonal reset, rooted in the tradition of eating a cleansing mono-diet of kitchari and following an Ayurvedic daily routine. We had an opening and closing circle, and support through voice recordings and a WhatsApp group in between. In addition to cleansing out digestive system through a kitchari fast, we also, as part of this collective journey, set spiritual intentions, made fires, sang, meditated to live hand drum music, learned to cook kitchari, shared a collective meal, prayed, spent time in a wood-fired sauna, practiced yoga, shared poems, walked in the woods, ate fresh pawpaws, and sealed the experience with a final cold plunge.
